European Eyes on Japan
Hiroshima
2001 | European Eyes on Japan is a long-term project initiated by EU Japan Fest, an organization in Tokyo that promotes cultural exchange between Japan and Europe.

Every year four European photographers are invited to capture one of the Japanese provinces (prefectures). In the summer of 2000, Theo Baart spent three weeks in the province and city of Hiroshima.

The results are shown in the provincial museums of Okayama (2002) and Hiroshima (2003). Components have been included in the Periferie project shown in the Frans Hals Museum | The Hallen in Haarlem in 2003.
